You have to pay $150 for a technician to just come out and look at it. He spent less then five minutes to tell me it would cost over $500 for both a new ice machine and labor. I can buy a new ice maker for $50 on amazon and just plug it in myself. I honestly wish I did not reach out to this company. I could have bought a nice ice machine for the price of having him come out. Not worth it. *Update- The ice maker was not even the problem. I paid $150 for bad advice. The ice maker wasn't getting any water, so I had to replace the water inlet valve. This make me feel even more frustrated because I wasted more time and money to follow their advice. The water valve part was only $30. If I had followed through with Mr. Appliance, I would have paid $500+ for them to not even fix the problem. I would love my $150 back.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience with this appliance repair service. The technician who was sent to my home did not appear to have my best interests in mind. Had he done so, I believe he would have advised against repairing my appliance altogether. After the repair was completed and the technician had left, I took the time to research the age and value of the appliance. I discovered that it was manufactured in 2009 and is now approximately 17 years old. What was most frustrating was learning that the cost of the repair exceeded what it would have cost to purchase a comparable new appliance and have it professionally installed. Had I been informed of this upfront, I would have chosen replacement over repair without hesitation. I would have been more than willing to pay the service fee for the technician's time and expertise, even if the recommendation had been not to proceed with the repair. As a customer, I expect professionals to provide honest guidance and help me make the most cost effective decision. Instead, I was left with an expensive repair on a very old appliance that likely has limited remaining lifespan. The fact that I had to conduct my own research afterward to discover this information was disappointing and undermined my trust in the company. A reputable appliance repair company should be willing to advise customers when a repair is not financially sensible, even if that means foregoing a larger repair bill. If customers must do all of the research themselves to determine what is truly in their best interest, there is little value in relying on professional expertise. For that reason, I cannot recommend this company. I would encourage anyone seeking appliance repair services to find a company whose technicians prioritize the customer's best interests and provide honest, trustworthy recommendations rather than simply performing costly repairs.

Great Experience with Braxton of Mr. Appliance of SLC and Tooele! My 14yo Samsung refrigerator started making noise a week ago that sounded like a bearing on a motor was going out. The noise would repeat every few seconds for 1-2 hours at a time every day in the late afternoon. A quick Google search led me to Mr. Appliance since they’re available 24/7 and it was Sunday! I called and was told a ‘Diagnostic Fee’ is $139 if repairs were not performed with them, which is reasonable. I would drop $3k for a new refrigerator instead of $500+ to repair the old unit if repair solution(s) were ‘iffy’. The day before my intended appointment day I was contacted to provide the model # to research parts availability before actually scheduling a diagnostic trip. Once parts availability was confirmed, I was scheduled within a 2-hour window during my requested morning preference. When Braxton arrived, he introduced himself, put a doormat down, wiped his feet and came in. His demeanor is very professional. I had him listen to a minute-long recording of the mystery noise. The noise was NOT occurring while he was present. He immediately began diagnosing, checking behind the unit and verifying the functioning of components in the areas most likely to be the source (where the fans are located). He then worked his way through a thorough list of diagnostic tests demonstrating his in-depth knowledge. He checked all compartments for noise sources. No issues were found. The last area checked was the venerable icemaker. When he pulled the tray, ice cubes were jammed up in several areas, including the area around a sensor lever. He removed the ice cubes and performed a manual ‘cycle’ of the icemaker. No noise. Was this the ‘Ah Ha! Moment’? No idea! (I'm in duh-me mode now) We’re now in wait-and-listen mode to determine if the mystery noise occurs again or is resolved. If the noise still occurs, they will send a tech out again at no charge within the next 30 days. If the noise has resolved, I have some peace of mind that my 14yo refrigerator is still in good shape based on the thorough ‘check-up’ that Braxton provided through diagnostics. I have no regrets. Mr. Appliance is now in my phone contacts as my go-to company for appliance issues. The process was simple, complete, and efficient. Braxton is a knowledgeable professional you can be confident will provide outstanding service.

I appreciate it how easy this service was to deal with. I was notified who would be sent and their approximate time and, Kelby showed up... He was very knowledgeable and skillful at getting things apart so he could diagnose it... As he worked extensively he called his support group to See if the necessary parts were still available or not... unfortunately, they were not... With that, he helped me Move the built-in microwave out to the recycle garbage can... So the effort continues now to find a microwave that will fit back in the same spot...
