Appliance outlets and discount appliance stores near you

529 listed stores in 44 states, 44 cities with 3 or more

An appliance outlet sells new appliances that cannot go out as regular retail stock: open-box returns, floor models, overstock and scratch-and-dent units, usually below the regular price. A used appliance store is different: it sells machines that have already been in someone's home. 529 stores in 44 states describe themselves this way on their own websites.

A store is listed here when its own website calls it an appliance outlet or says it sells open-box, overstock, clearance, liquidation or factory-second appliances. "Discount" alone is not enough, because it also turns up in phrases like "discount appliance repair". We keep the sentence and the page it came from, and each city page quotes it.

Outlet, discount, warehouse, liquidator: what the labels usually mean

Store labels and what to ask
Label What it usually sells Ask before you buy
Appliance outlet New units that left the normal retail channel: open-box, floor models, overstock, scratch-and-dent Is the manufacturer warranty intact, and from what date does it run?
Discount appliance store Anything priced below regular retail; the label does not say why Is this unit new, open-box, scratch-and-dent, refurbished or used?
Warehouse or clearance Overstock and returns in volume; the floor changes with each delivery Which day do trucks arrive, and what do delivery and haul-away cost?
Liquidator Returned, overstock or freight-damaged loads bought in bulk, often sold as-is Is there any warranty or return period at all, in writing?

What to check before you buy

  • The condition class. Ask whether the unit is open-box, a floor model, overstock or scratch-and-dent; each carries different risks.
  • The warranty start date. Some makers start coverage at the first retail sale, so a returned unit can carry less than a full warranty. Get the date in writing.
  • What is in the box. Racks, hoses, vent kits and manuals go missing from open-box stock. Check against the model's contents list.
  • Returns, delivery and haul-away. Ask whether the sale is final; outlets often charge for delivery and for hauling the old unit away. Stock turns over fast, so call before you drive.

The condition labels side by side: used vs scratch-and-dent vs refurbished vs open-box. How the discount tracks the damage: scratch-and-dent savings by brand and category.
