Privacy Policy

usedappliancestores.com is a directory of used-appliance stores in the United States ("we," "us," or "the operator"). This page explains what information the site collects about you, what it does with it, and how to reach us. Plain language, no legal padding.
The short version: the site has no user accounts, sells nothing, and collects very little. We run first-party analytics to understand aggregate traffic, described below. Our server keeps standard access logs, and if you send us a correction or a message through a form, we keep what you typed so we can answer you. If you ask for our email updates, we keep your address until you unsubscribe — and we never sell it.
What we collect
Analytics (Google Analytics). This Site uses Google Analytics, a measurement service provided by Google LLC, to understand aggregate site usage: pages viewed, approximate location (city level), device and browser type, and how you found the site. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies to distinguish visits (see the Cookies section below); the Site's configuration disables Google Signals and advertising personalization, and we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under applicable state privacy laws. No advertising network, tracking pixel, session-recording tool, or chat widget is loaded on any page. If your browser sends an opt-out preference signal (such as Global Privacy Control), nothing more is collected than described here, and no personalization results either way. Google processes this data on our behalf; Google's own privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy describes their handling. If you would rather not be counted, blocking or clearing cookies for this Site in your browser stops the measurement, as does Google's own opt-out browser add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout). Nothing is lost by doing so — every page and every listing remains available in full.
Server logs. Like nearly every website, our server records each request: IP address, browser user agent, the page requested, and a timestamp. We use logs for security and debugging. Logs are deleted after 90 days.
Forms. If you submit a correction, removal request, or contact message, we collect what you enter: typically your name, email address, and the message. We use it only to process your request and reply to you. We keep form submissions while the request is open and for 12 months after, as a record of what was fixed and when.
Email updates, if you ask for them. Some pages offer an email sign-up. It is entirely optional: you enter your address and tick a box saying you want the emails. We store your address, the wording you agreed to, the date, the page you signed up from, and your IP address as a record of that consent. We use it only to send the updates described at sign-up. This list is for readers of the site; it is kept separate from anything to do with store owners, and it is never combined with a business contact list. Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe link that works without signing in, and you can unsubscribe at any time. We keep your address until you unsubscribe, plus a record that you unsubscribed so we do not email you again by mistake.
Claiming a store listing. If you claim a listing as its owner or manager, we collect your email address, optionally your name and role, and a record of how the claim was verified — either that you received a code at an email address on the store's own domain, or that a file we asked for appeared on the store's website. We use this to confirm you manage the business and to mark the listing as claimed. Claiming is free and does not change where a store appears or how it ranks.
Nothing else. No accounts, no payments, no sign-ins, no profiles at launch. If that changes, this policy changes first.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- We do not run third-party ad trackers.
- We do not buy data about you to combine with what we collect.
- We do not rent, trade, or hand our email list to anyone else, and we do not use it to introduce you to a store or pass your details to one.
Cookies
The site sets these cookies:
| Cookie | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| _ga, _ga_* | Analytics. Google Analytics: distinguishes visitors and sessions. Set on every visit. | up to 2 years |
| _gid | Analytics. Google Analytics: distinguishes visitors for a shorter window. Set on every visit. | 24 hours |
| XSRF-TOKEN, session | Security and basic site function (form protection) | session / short-lived |
To opt out of Google Analytics, block or clear cookies for this Site in your browser, or install Google's browser opt-out add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout). The site works fully without analytics cookies.
Your choices and rights
Global Privacy Control (GPC). If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as an opt-out of any sale or sharing of your personal information. Since we do not sell or share personal information, the signal changes nothing today, but we honor it as a standing instruction.
Access and deletion. Contact us through the correction form and we will tell you what we hold about you (usually: your form submissions, if any) and delete it on request, unless we need it to resolve an open dispute. We answer within 10 business days.
Do Not Track. Browser DNT signals are inconsistent and we do not respond to them separately; GPC is the signal we honor.
Store listings are business data
Listings on this site describe businesses, not private individuals: store names, addresses, phone numbers, hours, and brands carried, compiled from the stores' own public websites, public records, and the stores' public business profiles (obtained through licensed data services). Each listed field shows its source and the date we checked it. If a listing includes your business and you want it corrected or removed, use the Data & Corrections page; that process is faster than a privacy request.
Children
The site is a business directory and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, we update the date at the top. A material change (collecting something new, a new purpose) gets a notice on the site before it takes effect.
