Do not let Milwaukee Appliance into your home. Read this first. What they did could have burned my house down with my family inside.
I hired them in late May to repair my three-year-old dryer that had never been serviced by anyone before. I paid around $316. The technician was short and irritated the entire visit, annoyed that we had opened the front and vacuumed the dryer out ourselves, and he charged us extra because he insisted on reassembling it before he would even run diagnostics. I could hear him in the basement the whole time, struggling and cursing under his breath.
Six weeks later the dryer failed again. A second company opened it up and found something that horrified me. The thermal fuse, the safety switch whose entire job is to shut the dryer down before it overheats and catches fire, had been bypassed and taped over. Screws were missing. The unit was unsafe to even power on. The second technician said it was a fire hazard and told us flat out not to use it.
Understand what that means. The single part standing between our family and a fire had been defeated and covered with tape. We ran that dryer for weeks. In our home. While we slept. With our child under the same roof. Never knowing the one safety device meant to protect us had been disabled and handed back to us as a finished job.
This is not a repair that failed. This is negligence, plain and simple. It was careless, it was dangerous, and it could have ended in tragedy. A company that does this to a dryer cannot be trusted near your home or your family.
Please, protect the people you love. Do not hire this company. If anything about a repair feels off, get a second opinion immediately. We are lucky we found out before our home went up in flames.
Update to owners reply-
Thank you for responding. I want to clarify a few things for anyone reading.
This dryer was three years old and had never been opened or serviced by anyone before your visit. Your company was the only party to work on it. Six weeks later, a licensed technician documented that the thermal fuse had been bypassed with tape and screws were missing, and provided that in writing and a picture.
I understand you weren't present at the second inspection. But your visit is the only time this dryer was serviced in its entire life, which leaves a very narrow window for how a safety fuse ended up taped over. I have the documentation from both visits and am glad to let the facts speak for themselves.
My goal here is simply to warn other families. A disabled safety device is not something I can stay quiet about.
