We list 108 appliance stores in Virginia, spread across 44 cities. 93 of them (86%) trade under a name we see nowhere else at scale, which is our working definition of an independent. Every listing is checked against Google Business Profile data; this page was last rebuilt from the database on September 19, 2026.

Method. We hold no ownership records, so an operator counts as a chain when the same store name appears 5 or more times across our national database. That groups by name, so a chain trading under several names is undercounted and two unrelated stores sharing a common name are overcounted. It is a proxy, and we would rather publish it with its limits stated than not publish it.
