A-1 Vacuum Cleaner Company

Our quite old vacuum cleaner had begun making a grating sound, and, concerned that it might give out on us before visitors arrived, we took it to A-1 Vacuum Cleaner Company in Roseville to see what was wrong. Phil turned it on, listened for a few seconds, said the fans on the motor were loose, immediately asked "What can I show you?" and immediately took us over to show us two new vacuum cleaners. This led us to believe that he meant our current vacuum cleaner couldn't be fixed or wasn't worth fixing. When we asked how soon he thought ours would break altogether, he said he didn't know. I then spent hours at home researching vacuum cleaners to help us decide on one of the A-1 vacuums or on something else. Then, just before we bought a new one, we decided to seek a second opinion. Another shop opened up part of the vacuum, found that a certain screw had worked its way loose (which they said is a common problem), and for a small charge replaced the screw and also replaced the belt (which was due for replacement). The noise was gone.

My Electralux central vacuum motor did not shut off when the hose was disconnected so I brought it to A-1 for repairs. Dan cleaned ir throughly as he checked it out and could not reproduce the problem at the shop. When I reinstalled it in my house, it’s working perfectly. My thanks to Dan for resolving the problem, even if he didn’t find what was causing it.

Absolutely worth a trip out, they'll answer questions and let you demo a vacuum. I've been in a few times and the cost straightforwardness, customer service, and business integrity is through the roof. You don't find businesses with this kind of honesty and customer satisfaction often. I will be going here for repairs and bags until I turn to dust.

Staff was extremely helpful over the phone, answering my questions and offering suggestions on vacuums. I decided to visit the store to try a few options. Dan was knowledgeable and kind. He took the time to explain features and various considerations for the options I was interested in. We purchased our vacuum and I LOVE it! Will recommend this store to family and friends. I had been hunting for replacement brush strips for my late 1940’s Hoover model 61 for awhile as I had one fail on me. This is a nearly extinct set of parts to find in good shape let alone NOS like they had. Saw the listing on their website and I gave them a call to verify if they even had it in stock as I had called a few places that had a listing but no parts. Russ took maybe 30 seconds on the phone after I give him the part number off their site and said he had it in his hands. I ended up wiping out all 4 sets and he helped save me a bit of money on shipping too. Shipping to Cincinnati Ohio was quick also. As soon as I got them I put them in and my Hoover is back up and running full force. THANK YOU!!!!
