I am still dumbfounded by my experience at Carl’s. While shopping for a dishwasher, we came across a Frigidaire with a sale tag on it for $399. The clerk told us it was a $650 machine on sale. We decided to purchase this appliance, went to the desk, wrote out the check and the dishwasher was loaded onto our truck. It was the next day before our grandchildren could come over and help us unload the machine, and we proceeded to install our new dishwasher. Installation for an 80 year-old man was not easy, but he was getting it done. Eventually, I took a second look at the machine and realized it was not the same one we purchased. I immediately called the store and our clerk explained that the machine we saw on the floor had an incorrect sale tag on it, so instead of giving us that one she substituted a lesser model that retailed for $399. I told her I wanted the machine we had chosen and she said that was not possible. After checking with her manager, she told us the original machine would cost us $600. They would deliver it to our home and bring back the cheaper machine. They refused to give us any kind of discount at all on the machine we got. I have never in my life gone into a store and bought one item and been given a totally different, less expensive item. I feel this clerk knew exactly what she was doing at the time and decided not to tell us about the switch. I will never ever go back to that store for anything. I know now exactly what bait and switch means.
