My wife and I donated household items and new residential windows to HFH Greater Fort Wayne. The staff was very helpful, friendly and professional. They were also very appreciative of the donation. Good people working for a good cause.

I donated a car full of my dad's tools- screw drivers, hammers, drill bits, drills, wrenches, etc. I was made to feel like I was doing something bad. One of the people unloading kept complaining about having to do inventory. I was not thanked or even given a good-bye. I will not ever donate there again and I have a lot more building supplies. My dad built house for Habitat and worked at the store. I think he would be sad and I am glad he is not alive to know about my experience.

The Restore in town is the best place to find lightly used big screen TVs $40 to $80, and on sale below $40. I bought a top of the line year old one for $32 on sale that retailed for $850. I also have bought fine jewelry here but it's rare. You will need to be more savvy than an average pawn broker, or local jeweler. It has lots of vintage and sometimes antique furniture. It has plenty of cheap new furniture. The garden area sometimes sells products local hardware's don't carry. The tools are great. If you need a deal on a replacement shower or cabinets a creative person can save 60 to 90 percent if they show up at the right time. It's not the best restore on price or selection but it's still not bad.

Another place with heart in Fort Wayne. This is the Habitat for Humanity ReStore on Lima Road, and this place is incredible. You walk in and see furniture, appliances, cabinets, lighting, flooring, building materials, home goods, butcher block, and all kinds of project supplies. But the real story is the mission. Build on faith. Build up families. Build community together. Every donation and every purchase helps support Habitat’s work to bring people together, build homes, and create hope right here in the community. That’s bigger than a store. That’s purpose on the walls, purpose in the aisles, and purpose in every second chance these items get. Fort Wayne has places with heart, and this is one of them.

An interesting place to go for unique finds. Everything from appliances, to furniture, to doors & windows, to bathtubs and trim. Come early for the best selection and to avoid seeing bargains along the long line that is already marked “sold”!
