I wanted to give this review 5 stars because the tech, Gilbert, was great. The door latch on my microwave broke and I previously had a dishwasher installed by McNallys and was very pleased with the install, so I called McNallys to repair my microwave.
Gilbert had the latch replaced in 15 mins, however the cost was what I consider outrageous for a 15 minute job. I was charged $80 for diagnosing the issue, which they advised me when I called, plus labor and parts. However, being a project manager in the service industry and familiar with job costing, I couldn’t believe the bill. They billed me $120 on top of the $80 along with the $11 latch for a 15 minute job, which 5 of the 15 minutes was used for calling in my credit card. I guess it’s possible the job could have taken longer depending on the tech if that’s how they set their rates by job. Again, Gilbert was awesome and I didn’t mention the cost to him because he most likely has nothing to do with the billing.
I’m not sure what they use to set their rate by job, but I feel they may want to review their job costing as it relates to replacing a door latch on a microwave or advise their is a labor minimum. The way it was explained when I called is that the $80 covered diagnosis, but I gave them the model number and explained the issue in detail. Gilbert was able to bring the necessary part, install it, so there wasn’t much diagnosis to perform. I didn’t expect the labor would be an additional $120 for a 15 minute repair.
When I get service from other companies, the initial charge covers at least the first 30 mins.
They have lost a loyal customer.
